What does a healthy relationship look like or feel like?  Sometimes we need to be clear about what it isn't in order to fully understand what a healthy relationship is.

Many people I talk with ask me what I think or feel about what is going on in the world right now.  Although I've avoided sharing my research and opinion on the topic, I am feeling strongly a need to share this and be transparent about my thoughts and feelings regarding the Global Pandemic and the lock down we are all experiencing.

Codependency has been a buzz word for decades.  It is a term used in the twelve step recovery programs to describe the co-addict, or person who takes care of the addict.  But Codependency has become a term that stands strong on its own to suggest a set of dysfunctional behaviors in a person who likely didn't get his or her needs adequately met in childhood.  As a result the codependent learns that the needs of others are more important and he/she goes about care taking others at his/her own expense.

We live in a world of programs.  Our society is steeped in various programs that tell us who we should be.  Our families all have their programs, mostly passed down from both sides of the ancestral lineage.  Schools have their programs.  We have programs in our peer groups.  But all those programs we grow up with tell us who we should be rather than ask the all-important question “who are you?”
